Flu Shots

Get Protection from the Flu

The flu (influenza) is a contagious virus anyone can get. Some people are more vulnerable to the effects of the flu than others. Babies, children under 5, people 65 and older, pregnant women, and people with underlying health conditions are particularly vulnerable. Complications from the flu can include serious conditions, like pneumonia and, in some cases, death. Protect not only yourself but others as well, with a free flu shot.

Because the virus frequently changes, you need to get your shot every year. Flu season typically runs from late fall to early spring. It’s important to get your flu shot as soon as possible, ideally at the beginning of flu season, because it takes two weeks to take effect. If you get the flu, speak to your pharmacist about over-the-counter medications that can make you feel better.

Drink plenty of fluids, avoid caffeine and alcohol, and get plenty of rest. To avoid spreading the disease to others, try to stay home when you’re sick. Wash your hands often, cough/sneeze into a tissue or your sleeve, and disinfect commonly used surfaces like your phone and keyboard.

The flu shot is safe for everyone, including children and those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. We are available to administer the flu shot to everyone 5 years of age or older. Don’t delay!
